What's in my work bag? Teacher's back to school edition

As a teacher, the Back to School supply sections in stores mark the end of my summer. This time is bittersweet. I don’t want to let go of sleeping in and spending time by the pool with my daughters, but I also look forward to a new school year and settling back into our routine. There is something re-energizing about a fresh set of school supplies. With my new supplies purchased and school inservice fast approaching, it was time to get my work bag back in order. I love hearing what other women consider must haves in their purses/work bags, so I thought I would share mine.

THE BAG

For me, a tote bag works perfectly for all of my work items. I found this Universal Thread faux leather tote on clearance at Target. My sister gifted me the cute tassel that I used to spice it up!

WHAT’S INSIDE

  • Keys and Wallet

  • Laptop: I love my MacBook and use it daily. Despite being pricey, it was a great investment for me.

  • Charger: You never know when you will need it.

  • Earbuds: I love to listen to an audio book when I get the chance. I just finished the highly recommended Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.

  • Notebook: I found this cute little bullet journal at Walmart and knew it would be great for all the lists I like to write down. Similar journal linked here.

  • Monthly Planner: I love to keep an old school monthly calendar to lay out my big ideas for the school year. This black and gold monthly planner was another Walmart find. Similar planner linked here. I have recently started using a digital planner from Artful Agenda. I love that this provides me with the features of a digital calendar like Apple or Google, but also some great features from a traditional planner. It syncs and color codes my personal and work calendars! Use Referral Code RL6147 if you are interested!

  • Catch All Folder: I get so many random handouts in meetings. I keep a cute file folder in my bag to store these papers neatly until I can find something to do with them!

  • Writing Utensil Bag: I use Florecer Femme’s cute new “Let’s Flourish Ladies” canvas pouch as storage for my on the go office supplies! Get yours here!

  • Flair Pens: These are my favorite pen. I love the smooth writing of this felt tip pen and the fun assortment of colors. We even have our own Florecer Femme Flair Pen!

  • Highlighters: I love these pastel highlighters from JAVAPEN. They are more subtle than traditional highlighters.

  • Post Its: You never know when you might need them!

  • Hand Cream: There is something about the soap in public restrooms that irritates my skin. I like to keep hand cream in my bag at all times.

  • Tinted Lip Balm: My sister used to say that chapstick can always make you feel better. I remember this and keep a tinted lip balm in my work bag.

  • Sunglasses: These are a necessity for my commute to and from work! I usually have these aviators from Ray-Ban or these from Humps Optics

  • Snacks and Gum: Nobody wants to deal with a hangry teacher or coworker, and I certainly don’t want bad breath!

  • Water Bottle: I do my best to stay hydrated. A great water bottle helps! This insulated flip straw bottle was another Walmart find!

What a list! I have always heard that the bigger the bag, the more stuff you can fit in it. What are your must-haves in your work bag?
